Description:
Out of the sealed retail package, this PSU shows some style. The nickel coating is much better than this picture conveys. Very nice! Getting past the good looks, this PSU comes with a hefty power cable, bag of hardware, and zip ties.
This PSU also comes with a 24-to-20 pin adapter and several server connectors as well as a SATA adapter for you hard drive speed demons. The connectors sport gold plated plugs for maximum connectivity and "bling-factor".
A+ GPB's nickel finish on this PSU is pretty good. This not quite mirror finish is uniform throughout making fit and finish on this power supply is perfect.
Sure, power supply wattage plays a factor when buying, but it doesn't stop there. Among other mitigating factors, I'm a firm believer in end user reviews, as well as weight being a large factor in choosing a good power supply, and here's proof. This hefty power supply weighs in at a whopping 5lbs 4.5oz. That's a huge step up from my 450 watter that weighs in at just over two pounds. A heavier supply means larger capacitors, bigger transformers and better heatsinks leading to a better quality PSU.
It's nice to see a big sticker showing all the PSU info. Good job A+ GPB for not hiding behind a small - illegible sticker like so many others do. The 3.3v rail shows 26/35a, 5.0v rail shows 47/61a, and the 12v rail showing 28 amps. This one is a huge performer!
A look at the exhaust side shows the fan controls as well as the extra 110/120v outlet. The fan controls are: auto/low/med. The PSU itself is super quiet, even when set to "auto". |
