AiZen FlyBy Bluetooth HeadsetPerformance: The AiZen FlyBy Bluetooth headset certainly promises a lot and overall it comes through superbly. The ‘Jelly Bean’ ear cushion design works amazingly well. After adjusting the ear cushion for my ear size, the FlyBy fit in my ear very securely. Some jump rope sessions and even a game of tennis was not enough to nudge the headset let alone have it fall out. If only ear-bud music headphones fit this securely. I would say that only a very mighty gust of wind or something physically snagging it would cause the headset to fall off your ear. Because of the snug fit though, I can always feel the headset’s presence.
In addition to a secure fit, the no hook design of the FlyBy allows it to be worn and removed quickly and hassle-free. Those of you who have ever used a hooked headset know that putting the headset on can be troublesome at times, especially if you have long hair. Being able to put on and take off the FlyBy quickly means you only need to wear the headset when you are using it and don’t have to keep it constantly on, unless of course you want to. The physical absence of the hook also makes the headset very pocket friendly. To test the sound quality, I had my friend (who will be referred to as Ed) pair the FlyBy headset to his Motorola V330 phone, then call me from a variety of noisy place. The first noisy environment tested was in front of a moderately loud television. Amazingly, for the majority of the one minute test conversation, I was not able to hear the television at all. According to Ed, he was watching a basketball game. The next noisy environment tested was next to a busy freeway. The sounds of traffic were astounding reduced to a tiny rumble. The last noisy environment tested was at a mall’s food court. Again, the sound of a multitude of conversations going on at once was barely audible. During all three tests, I heard Ed’s voice very clear though at times it sounded like he was shouting to try to overcome the noisy environment. While I cannot speak for the noise canceling performance of headsets from other companies, based on my testing the FlyBy has some of the best noise canceling technology currently available. On a full charge, the talk time was more or less on par with the advertised 10 hours. On standby, it does indeed appear to last for about a week. Charging the headset from empty to full (using the USB to AC adapter) took just a little over two hours.
Conclusion: For AiZen’s first product, the FlyBy is certainly an impressive showing. Anchored by two outstandingly designed features, the FlyBy Bluetooth headset has more than what it takes to be worth considering over a Bluetooth headset from a big name brand. The superior no hook design flat out works. It provides a super secure fit and allows the headset to take literally only a second to put on. The patented Zen noise canceling ensures that no matter what environment you are in, what you say will be heard loud and clear. Mix in the MSRP proposed by AiZen, the FlyBy is not only one of the best designed Bluetooth headsets available; it is also one of the most affordable. Pros:
