Bluetake BT400 G3 Bluetooth Headset (cont.)Usage and Testing: The BT400 turns on by pressing and holding the multi-function button for about 5 seconds until it starts to flash blue. This turned out to be rather inconvient for two reasons: 5 seconds is a bit too long and your finger will most likely cover up the entire button, so when it flashes blue, you will not know. The button will then flash blue every two seconds. To turn off the headset, press and hold the multi-function button for two seconds until it flashes red. To go into pairing mode; when the headset is off press and hold the button for about 7 seconds until it starts to flash blue and red.
To pair the BT400 G3 to a Bluetooth enabled cellphone, follow the phone's pairing instructions and when prompted turn the headset to pairing. After the headset gets detected, the phone will ask for a passkey which by default is "0000". After the BT400 G3 is paired to a phone, whenever the headset is on and there is a call, the headset will ring along with the phone. The multi-function button can now be used to answer and end calls in addition to the phone's keypad. If your phone has voice dialing capabilities, the BT400 G3 can be used to make calls as well. Sound quality was very good with my test phone, the Sony Ericsson T610. I was able to go about ~20 feet from the phone before the signal deteriorated. The rubber ear hook felt very comfortable and I found I was able to wear it for a few hours without discomfort. As mentioned earlier, the ear clip can be flipped so the headset can be worn on the left ear. Just remember that when doing so, the volume buttons are flipped as well.
Charging the headset from empty to full was around the advertised time of 2.5 hours. The multi-function glows green when charging and turns green when fully charged. For talking, the BT400 G3 lasted just under 9 hours and stand by time was indeed about 350 hours, or 14.5 days. In addition to being paired with cellphones, the BT400 G3 can also be paired with a Bluetooth enabled computer. When paired with a computer, the headset can be used to listen to music. Because it is used as the headset profile, the music quality is like that of AM radio. The headset does work great for online voice chatting and VoIP software though, like Skype.
Conclusion: Prepare to be one of those crazy looking people who look like there talking to themselves. With the BT400 G3, you will be able to use your Bluetooth enabled cellphone without wires and without even touching your phone. Its comfortable ear hook and long battery life will let you talk for hours with your phone's battery running out of juice long before the headset. For anyone with a Bluetooth cellphone or looking to get one, the BT400 G3 is a must have accessory. Pros:
