Lian Li PC-0716W Aluminum Computer CaseProvided by: PC
Toys Aluminum computer cases are lightweight; thus, easy to transport. Lightweight cases are a back saver when carrying a case to a LAN party. This Lian Li case weighs around six pounds.
One drawback to an aluminum case is that they are not as sturdy as steel cases, or so I thought. The Lian Li PC-0716W is a very sturdy case. While it may not be as strong as a steel case it is more sturdier than the Chenming case I reviewed over a month ago. Case Outside View: Lian Li's PC-0716W case contains
As you can see from the picture, this case is all aluminum looks very sharp with no paint. An unpainted surface is better for painting or applying a case wrap. The top of the case has a professional looking strip of plastic with a black and white thatch design. This design allows for a bit of color that touches off the case nicely.
The Lian Li PC-0716W comes with a large window, perfect for displaying the cuts of your case. The windows does not have any fan holes, which could hinder the case's cooling performance. Dimensions: When taking the case out of the box, I knew it was the perfect case for me. The Lian Li case is longer than a Chenming style case.
Components fit better in the Lian Li making it easier to access devices. The dimensions on my full tower Antec are 18 1/2 long and 20 1/2 inches tall.
Accessibility: Devices are easily accessible in the PC-0716W case. Thumb screws hold the power supply plate in place allowing for easy insertion and removal of a power supply. The power supply rests on two metal guides for added support. When installing the PSU unit into the KE-301 the PSU had to be put in first for the easiest installation, this is not the case with the Lian Li.
Inside the Lian Li case, devices are laid out with ease of maintenance. A hard drive tray is mounted to the bottom of the case, something I always wished my Antec would have. One problem is a full height SCSI hard drive did not side into the tray. There are tabs to for a one inch drive to rest on, so not only the screws hold the drive in place. I had to break these tabs off to fit my 1.5 inch SCSI drive in. Two very quiet fans bring air into the bottom of the case. They blow over the hard drive tray. This is the ultimate cooling solution for the hard drives. The metal of the interior is very smooth and is impossible to cut yourself on. A plastic lining surrounds the edges of the main pieces of metal for added protection. |
