Nyko Air Flo PC GamepadProvided by: Nyko When people think of a gamepad, they normally associate it with console game systems. Fact is, there are plenty of games on the PC that should be played with a gamepad. Sports and racing games are two types of "gamepad" games that come to mind. If you are into these types of games then you should look into a quality gamepad instead of a mouse and keyboard. A common brand name for a gamepad is Nyko. They design gamepads for gaming consoles as well as the PC. The difference between their pads and other companies is that a fan that blows cool air over your hands reducing sweat.
Packaging: Nyko's Air Flo Gamepad was shipped in a plain brown box via DHL.
Nyko's Air Flo Gamepad is sealed in a hexagon blister package. The front of the package has a flip open card board piece that promotes the Air Flo's features in two languages. A description of the gamepad's features along with Nyko's logo is on the back.
Inside is the gamepad, instruction booklet, promo flyer for Air Flo Mouse and other devices, and a silver piece of cardboard backing that made taking a good picture of the package hard; hence, the rainbow. Features: Features for the Nyko Air Flo PC Gamepad can be seen on Nyko's web site.
Description:
The Air Flo Gamepad is made of a silver colored plastic. Black rubber grips lie at the bottom where the palms of the hands rest. The rubber feels slightly tacky but not squishy. All rubber parts are vented on the sides to allow air from the fan to flow through. Air Flo's gamepad is shaped like a PS2 gamepad only larger. I have bigger hands so the gamepad fit perfectly in them. I let my girlfriend play on the gamepad for a bit and she complained that the gamepad was a bit big for her to easily navigate. Two analog thumb joysticks are at bottom center of the gamepad. They have a rubber coating with some texture for a solid grip. Each thumb joystick can be pressed down for an extra button. The buttons are of a hard plastic, not softer as I like. They feel like digital buttons for I was unable to press them down slightly. The directional pad feels the same as the buttons.
In the middle of the gamepad is the fan gamepad switch. It can be toggled to off, low, or high. Below the fan switch are three extra buttons. Possibly used for less active tasks. In between this triangle of buttons is an LED that lights if the gamepad is plugged in. At the top of the gamepad are 4 additional buttons. The bottom 2 are ergonomically designed to perfectly fit a finger. The whole gamepad has a great ergonomic design and rests nicely in the hands of the player. It is fairly light and will not cause cramping from hours of gaming.
As mentioned in the features, the USB cable is long. Finally, a gamepad with some cable. I hate gamepads with short cables that make you sit on top of the PC when using them. You can easily plug this cable into the back of your PC and comfortably use it while leaning back in your chair with your feet up. The cable is wrapped in a Velcro tie and has a protective plastic piece on the end. |
