Antec Side Panel with Case WindowProvided by: Antec Have you ever wondered if there was an easier way of adding a case window to your case? Antec sells the perfect item for the lazy case modder. What could be easier than installing a side panel on an Antec case with a case window already in it? The Antec side panel with case window that we will look at today is part number SP10WB. The case window includes a mount for a side fan in it, perfect for an LED fan.
Overview: There isn't too much to describe with the side panel. The window size on the panel is about 10.5 inches wide by 15 inches long. The panel is designed to hold an 80 mm fan that will snap into the clear fan bracket. Grooved fins extrude from the side panel to act as a cool looking fan guard. Other than that, these grooves serve no other purpose. Installation was a no brainer, take the door out of the box and pop it unto you Antec case. The Antec side panel works with the following cases: SP10W works with SX800, SX830, SX835, SX840, SX1000, SX1040, PLUS1060, PLUS1080, SX835II.
Testing and Results: The side panel lent itself to one test, whether or not the fan made a difference in case cooling. I placed a temperature probe in my case and monitored the results for two days with the original case door on and two days with the windowed side panel. Temperatures were taken at different intervals throughout the day and then averaged below. The temperature probe was located right above the north bridge, about one inch from the processor. Temperatures were taken with no fan, fan blowing into the case, and fan exhausting air from the case. A Sunon 50CFM fan was used. The results are displayed below...
