Lian Li PC-0716W Aluminum Computer Case (cont.)
Internal Access:
Access to the drive bays is well thought out. The
plate that holds the motherboard is not the full length of the
case. This allows for all the drive holes to be exposed. The holes
are slotted which enables the user to mount the drives flush
with the case's facing. Not being able to mount hard drive coolers
flush with the front of my Antec case, always annoyed me.

Lian Li's PC-0716W is designed to be a tidy case.
All the LED and power switch wires are bound with plastic ties.
The case also comes with five plastic extra ties and one larger
plastic cable holder bracket that mounts using a sticky back. These
extras are beyond
the
call of duty for Lian Li add to excellence of this case.
Included with the plastic ties comes an abundance of screws
and pop in mounts for the case. The simple to use pop in mounts
are pushed through the backside of the holes in the motherboard
panel.
Screws that hold the motherboard in place screw
into the mounts.

Case Front:
The front of the case is easily removed. There are two
screws at the top of the case that must be unscrewed. There are
no wires are attached to the front of the case making it very easy
to remove. I hate when wires restrict from removing the cover completely.
Thumbscrews are used to hold in the 3 1/2 inch drive bays. A drive
can easily be mounted from within the case, but if it may easier
to pull the drive bay mount out. Not really sure if this feature
is a big help or not, only time will tell during upgrades.
The face plates that cover drive slots do not punch out. On
other cases the metal can only be punched out once, then
if you remove the drive
you have a big hole. Simply squeeze the ends of the Lian Li's face
plate and they pop right out. To reinsert, line up the guide
holes
and put them back in. Simple and reusable, another great plus to
this computer case.

Two USB ports are located at the bottom of the case. Interesting
enough there are also two LEDs mounted in front of the face plate.
These LEDs glow all sorts of different colors which I will show
later.

To protect against dust the Lian Li PC-0716W has
a dust filter for the fans. Simply pull up on the plate containing
the LEDs and the dust filter is exposed, very simple to clean.
Notice the fans are not screwed into
the case. Plastic push pins are used. This will help cut down
on a fans vibration because the push pin absorbs the shock of the
vibrating fan. Push pins are included for mounting a fan behind
the CPU in the back
of the case. Using push pins is faster than screws. The only
drawback to the push pins, is replacing a fan will be a pain.
It takes a bit of work to pry out the pins.
