Lian Li PC-0716W Aluminum Computer Case (cont.)
In Use:
When I received this case, I was unaware that it
had LED lighting built in. Even is that it had three colors, red,
blue, and green. Even better than that the colors rotate and mix
together. Thus, the front of the case can be blue, green,
blue green, etc... The
LED lights fade in and then fade out with the color effect lasting
about five seconds. Too bad you can not control what colors are
displayed. That would be a good mod project.

The operation of the Lian Li PC-0716W case is very
quiet. The fans barely make noise; however, the cooling performance
did decrease compared to an Antec full tower. The case temperature
increased three degrees Celsius and four degrees
Celsius for the CPU. My assumption
is that too much of the front fan's airflow is blocked
cables
in the case. The best way to cool this case is to
put a side mount fan in the window which will take some effort
to cut the hole.
Conclusion:
The Lian Li PC-0716W computer case offers more than anyone could
ask for in a case. Every detail has been thought of with this
case including cool lighting effects, sharp design, thumb screws,
wire ties, and quiet fans.
Cooling is a little weak. A modification will
have to be made to lower the case temp to that of the Antec.
I still think this is an excellent case because there was no
struggle to fit devices in or having to live with items not positioned
correctly.
Pros:
- Light weight
- Metal is smooth, not sharp
- Front USB ports
- Built in window
- Plenty of room for devices
- Easy access to devices
- Cool looking lighting effects
- Plenty of extras like cable ties
Cons:
- Cooling is not as good as an Antec
- Push pins will make fans harder to remove
