What are the things you look for in a set of multimedia
speakers? More often then not it comes down to style and power.
While those two are not mutually exclusive, people tend to favor
one over the other. But no matter what your flavor is, I have
a treat for you. Altec Lansing has provided us with their latest offering, MX5021,
is a powerhouse THX certified 2.1 speaker system that looks terrific as well.

Packaging:
Altec Lansing's MX5021 speakers arrived in a big brown
shipping box labeled with Altec Lansing on the sides. Inside is
the black Altec Lansing retail
box
drowning
in packing peanuts. Even though the box is slightly damaged the
MX5021 speakers arrived without a scratch.

The
top of the retail box features Altec Lansing's company logo and name inside
a picture of a speaker driver. The front of the box has a big
picture of one of the MX5021 satellite speakers with "Feel It!
Live it! Turn it up!" printed across it. Of course we will.
The bottom of
the front face has the THX certified logo, model number, "plug
+ play", an icon list of things these speakers can be used
with, a picture of the whole speaker system, and a simple equation
of "2 speakers + 1 subwoofer".

On the right side of the
box is a bigger picture of the speaker set with no new information.
An American Idol-esk mural with
"Just listen to this!" is splashed across left side of
the box. The back of the Altec Lansing's MX5021 retail speaker box has the features, system
specifications, and
contents
lists in
four different languages.

Opening the top of the box revealed two tabs with
the quick setup instructions printed on them.
