LiteOn DVD Burner 16X SOHW-1633S

A few months ago we checked out the LiteOn SOHW-832S DVD Burner. This 8X DVD burner was fast, but left a few questions to be answered. LiteOn sent us their latest bad boy DVD burner, the SOHW-1633S, a 16X DVD burner. At 16X you will never complain that a DVD burn is too slow, that is if it supports your media and you can actually burn at 16X. Let's find out if this 16X DVD burner can do both.

Packaging:

LiteOn's DVD burner was shipped in a standard brown shipping box. Surrounding the retail box is newspaper. Newspaper is cost effective solution for packing materials, plus this DVD burner came from their DC.

A picture of LiteOn's SOHW-1633S DVD burner is shown on the front of the box along with its speed. LiteOn's box includes a list of included software, DVD+R double layer size information, and the LiteOn's logo. The front's left side has LiteOn's name taking about 1/5 the total space.

The top of the box contains much of what the front contains. There are about a million different specifications for the SOHW-1633S DVD burner on the back of the retail box. These specifications are mostly an explanation of the optical drive's different speeds and compatibility.

The left side of LiteOn's retail box has a list of features while the right side lists the system requirements and package contents.

Inside the retail box, the DVD burner is secured with an egg carton type of packaging. A plastic bag surrounds the DVD burner to keep dust out.
