SilverStone Silverstone LC10-M HTPC Case (cont.)
Exterior (cont.)
The top cover of the case, which includes the top, left, and right
sides, feature a matte finish paint job which gives off a decent
shine, yet is fingerprint resistant.

A rectangular patch of vents is located on the rear lower region
of the left side and the front lower region of the right side.

The bottom of the Silverstone LC10-M hosts four plastic feet, each with
a silver rim and rubber base. The back of the case has all the features
you would find on a standard case, such as a power supply cutout,
I/O plate, rear exhaust fan vents, and expansion slots. It can accept
a standard ATX power supply; this is why the case is as tall as
it is. I should also mention that the expansion slot covers each
have a fine mirror finish.

As I mentioned a moment ago, the top, left and right sides of the
case are one piece. This piece is secured by four screws on the
back of the case. It is a bummer that SilverStone did not use thumb
screws here.

Unscrewing the four screws and removing the top of the case reveals
a very roomy interior, for HTPC case standards. As listed, the Silverstone LC10-M can support a standard ATX motherboard as well as full size
expansion slots.

In addition to the one external 5.25" bay, the there is also
an additional internal 5.25" bay and a whopping total of four
internal 3.5" drive bays. This allows the Silverstone LC10-M to handle
just about any RAID or multi drive setup that you can throw at it.
In addition to quantity, all the drive bays are very easy to access.

The right portion of the front panel can be slid open after removing
two screws for easy installation of 5.25" drives. Below the
5.25" drive bay is a removable single 3.5" drive cage.
Next to the 5.25" bay is a removable three 3.5" drive
cage. Noticeably absent on the case is an external 3.5" drive
bay. This is perhaps an indirect way of saying floppy and zip drives
have no place on a HTPC.
Unfortunately, the Lascala does not employ any tool-less designs.
In addition to the case cover being secured with standard screws,
the expansion slots and drive bays all use standard screws.

Cooling of the Silverstone LC10-M is handled by two rear 60mm exhaust
fans and a single front 80mm intake fan. The front intake fan is
mounted to the case with screws and covered with a 92mm fan cage.
Naturally, this means the 80mm fan can be swapped for a 92mm fan
if one desires. The 80mm fan is rated at 21dBA while the 60mm fans
are rated at 25dBA. All together, the case puts out a medium high
whirl that is noticeable in a quiet room. It gets quickly drowned
out when music or videos start playing. The rear fans use 3-pin
plugs (each), while the front fan has a Molex plug. One 3-pin to
Molex adapter is included.
