No stranger to the "Cooling Scene", Taiwan based Evercool has been providing heatsink solutions for both AMD and Intel platforms for years. With a factory of their very own and production values presently around 2.5 million pieces per month, they're no flash in the pan either. Today we take a look at a new product from Evercool, the Magic Cooler (AKA: Mag-01).

First Look:

Packaging was quite adequate, a blister pack surrounds the heatsink providing plenty of protection from shipping damage. The HSF arrived in perfect shape. (watch for a future review on the other Evercool Pentium 4 HSF shown)

Open the blister pack and you start to get a good idea of the scope of this CPU cooler. The retail pack includes various mounting clips for the many supported platforms. Also included is a nice sized syringe of Evercool's own thermal grease and a thick installation manual.

A closer look at the cooler shows a purple anodized heat sink and Evercool's EC7015M12CA, ball bearing fan, mounted with a tooless clip. (more on the clip later) While Evercool rates this fan at less than 30dBA, a cross check reveals that it is actually rated less than 28dBA. It's nice to see a company that doesn't overrate their products to entice sales. Great effort Evercool!
