A brand new cooler from Spire, SP420B8 CopperStream, promises to be the perfect cooling solution for the Pentium 4 processor. To find out if the CopperStream is the perfect solution, I will test it against one best heatsinks on the market, the Thermalright SLK 900u. The SLK has an 80mm Thermaltake Smartfan 2 attached to it.

Features:

Spire's CopperStream uses thin fins that are straight up and down. Thin fins allow more air into the heatsink. Because the fins are not curved, a higher amount of turbulence may develop causing less air to make contact with the heatsink.

A sleeve is wrapped around the ATX power cord. This is perfect for tidying up your case.

Spire's CopperStream cooler comes with all that is needed to mount it to a Pentium 4. Two mounting brackets are included. The package also includes thermal paste.

As the name suggests the CopperStream is an all copper heatsink. The CopperStream heatsink does not as shine as one would hope. I was torn between lapping it or leaving it as is. I finally decided to leave it unlapped for the market that the heatsink is targeted to is not exactly made for the biggest modder. Because of this fact, I wanted to try it as the normal consumer would. Let's see if the unlapped heatsink will hurt performance.
