Audio FX Gaming HeadsetUsage: Wearing the Audio FX headset was quite comfortable. After an hour or two they felt heavy. I have a hard time of wearing headphones for long periods of time. The band was comfortable though, where I thought it would be a little hard.
I first tested the Audio FX headset with my PSP. Sound quality was excellent especially on highs and mids. The Audio FX headset picked up a lot of background noises that I didn't hear before on normal headsets. Noises like birds chirping. Bass was very strong, almost too strong. I wish there was a bass controller. On a computer, you can adjust the equalizer so that is good. I did not feel the vibrations on the PSP. This is because the USB cable powers vibrations. On the computer when listening to music, the headsets sounded great. Again the bass was very strong. For fun, I plugged in the USB cable and got the vibrations. Not a good solution for music with any kind of bass. My ears were constantly buzzed. This made listening to techno and rap really annoying. I liked the effect, but it was hard to listen with my ears buzzing. I had to turn off vibrate. Again, the bass is very strong on its own and I recommend Audio FX's headset for listening to music. Game playing was very interesting. The mids and highs were great like on the PSP. The bass was a touch too much, but the vibration made for cool effects. Explosions really rocked because I could feel them as well as here them. Of course, a good sub on your computer system can make you aware of that too, but from a headset, this was great. For movie testing, I watched my favorite action scene from the Matrix Reloaded, starting with Neo fighting in the mansion and moving to the freeway. While the vibration effect was cool, it does not replace a 5.1 or 6.1 DTS / Dolby Digital system. Sometimes the vibration would kick in on some low bass music, masking the vibration during an explosion or crash. To me the vibration effect was slightly better than not having it.
LEDs added an interesting effect. Problem is, to get green you have to have the vibration on and the sound up to what would be my max level. Anything higher and I had to pull the headsets off my head. At the full red mode, I could use the headphones as desktop speakers. Finally, using the microphone was as good as any microphone I have used. I only talked into it and listened to my voice playback. I didn't hear any background noise. Conclusion: The Audio FX headphones are some of the best headphones I have tried on. The sound qualitys is excellent. The only issue is the bass is a bit much for me. I would recommend turning it down if you can. Too bad there is not a bass controller. Adding the vibration is a very innovative idea and I like it in some scenarios such as movies and games. With music, the vibration should be turned off. Thank you Crazy PC for providing us with the Audio FX headset. Pros:
