Bigha Jasper Always Laser PointerFeatures: Bigha touts Jasper as the most powerful, reliable, and longest lasting Class IIIa laser money can by. Legally, a Class IIIa laser cannot output more than 5mW of power. Jasper is guaranteed to have more than 3.5mW of power, with most units registering well above 4.5mW. This is compared to around 1.5mW of most other laser pointers.
Other laser pointers will overheat or burn out when powered on continuously for a moderately long time, about a minute! Jasper features a proprietary APC (Advanced Power Control) circuitry that allows it to be safely powered on continuously until the battery dies. With one 3V lithium battery, the Jasper lasts between 6 to 9 hours. Though 3V lithium batteries are not as common as AA or AAA batteries, they are by no means proprietary. Any store that sells batteries and/or cameras carries 3V lithium batteries.
As mentioned in the intro, Jasper produces a green laser. A special property that green lasers have over red lasers is when in the proper lighting conditions (or lack there of), the entire beam can be seen, not just a dot. In addition, because the human eye is much more sensitive to green than red, the green dot appears far brighter than a red dot of equal power. Performance: Bigha's Jasper is indeed the brightest laser pointer I have ever seen. It can illuminate a small room with a green night vision goggle like glow. Even in a brightly lit room or outdoors during the daytime, Jasper's dot is clearly visible for as far as my eyes can see.
I am outdoors at night; however, the Jasper really shines. Against the dark sky, the green laser beam is amazingly visible. The visible beam makes pointing at distant objects very simple. Additionally, the range of the Jasper is also astounding. Pointing at palm trees that are at least half a mile away (and not even considering the height of the trees), a bright green dot is clearly visible.
