Black Knight XLH Gaming Mouse PadProvided By: : My
Game Controller A quality mouse pad is important, plain and simple. After all, what is the point of having a high quality mouse if the surface it tracks on is garbage. With that said, do you really have to spend a small fortune on a quality mouse pad? Well, MyGameController.com would like to answer no to that question with the ultra affordable Black Knight XLH gaming mouse pad. Is the Black Knight gaming pad a worthy and thrifty alternative to higher priced gaming pads? Read on and find out.
Packaging: To keep the price of the Black Knight competitively low, there is currently no official packaging for it. The Black Knight arrives from MyGameController.com via USPS sandwiched and sealed between two pieces of cardboard. Description: MyGameController's Black Knight XLH (High Profile) features a roomy 11" by 12" plastic surface mounted atop a soft rubber base. The top surface is fundamentally the most important element of a quality mouse pad. Therefore the Black Knight is designed solely with this in mind, leaving out the frills that make other high quality pads cooler but also more expensive.
The key element of the Black Knight is indeed its top surface which is composed of random fingerprint-like textures. For those that do not know, an optical mouse works by having a small digital camera continuously taking pictures of the surface it is on. Based on the subtle differences between each consecutive picture, the mouse determines the movement of the cursor. If the mouse pad features uniform patterns the mouse's sensor may at times misread the pictures and cause undesired cursor movement. An analogy I find really helpful to understand this is the spokes of a spinning bicycle wheel. Have you ever noticed that at certain speeds the spinning pattern of uniform spokes appear (to our eyes) to be spinning in the opposite direction that the wheel is spinning.
Another benefit of the Black Knight's unique surface texture is that it minimizes the amount of contact between the pad and the mouse's feet. Approximately only 50% of the surface is raised and will come in actual contact with the mouse. As a final touch, the top edges of the pad are beveled off. |
