The convergence between computers and the home theater
is as strong as ever. It is so easy nowadays to fit your computer
into the living room. Hardware wise, there is a plethora of HTPC
cases to choose from. In addition, all current video cards have
direct TV output. Connecting your computer to your surround sound
receiver; however, is a bit of a challenge. While the best sound
cards these days, namely the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 line, have "digital"
output, that output is not designed for connections to your surround
sound receiver. It was designed to be connected to a S/PDIF capable
digital computer speaker systems.
