Cooler Master CM StackerCross Flow Fan:
The Cross Flow Fan is an optional component specially designed for the CM Stacker. This 300mm vertical blower fan brings in fresh air from the rectangular perferations on the right side panel and blows it directly over the entire motherboard.
The Cross Flow Fan comes with a PCI bracket fan speed controller. It has four speed settings: off, low, medium, and high. The following chart is the temperature of my test motherboard's chipset. The motherboard is an AOpen AK79D-400Max. The chipset is passively cooled so the Cross Flow Fan should have an effect on its temperatures. The results were:
The Cross Flow Fan has a healthy effect on the motherboard steadily dropping about one degree at every fan speed.
Extras: Quite a few extras are included with the CM Stacker. As mentioned earlier, there are 11 pairs of fixing plates (not including the two pairs already on the 4-in-3 Device Module) to attach to drives. Four wheels are included and can be used in place of the case's feet to give the CM Stacker easier mobility and to raise it off the floor.
A special motherboard power cable is provided. It allows a second power supply to power up with the rest of the system. The included Installation Guide gives detailed instruction on everything from converting the case to BTX, to installing case fans, to removing the 4-in-3 Device Module. Just about every screw that is needed is included. Lastly, a silver metal case badge is included which reads "Cooler Master Gear."
The CM Stacker includes 3 standard case fans but can accommodate up to 8 (not including the Cross Flow Fan). The rear 120mm exhaust, top 80mm exhaust, and front 120mm intake make up the three included with the "loudest" being the 80mm at only 23.8 dB. Assuming only one power supply is used; the other PSU bay can handle two more 80mm fans. The right side panel can handle yet another 80mm fan. The CM Stacker can handle up to two more 4-in-3 Device Modules, bringing with them one 120mm each. All that totals up to eight. Conclusion: This is by far the most versatile case I have ever encountered. With 11 drive bays, the CM Stacker will handle just about every 5.25" drives and drive bay accessories. The ability to convert into a BTX case provides some piece of mind for all the uncertainty around the future BTX standard. Able to be equipped with up to 8 fans and two PSUs, this case is ready to handle the most power hungry systems. The addition of the Cross Flow Fan adds further cooling performance. Anyone who is interested in serious water-cooling will love the large volume of room inside the CM Stacker. Bottom line, the CM Stacker is perhaps the most versatile, compatible, customizable, and high performing case available today. Pros:
