Enermax Black Knight CaseExterior: The Black Knight is one of Enermax's auto coating series cases; therefore, it features a supremely shiny paint coat. A shiny coat is sparingly found on other computer cases, including those more expensive cases. Though the front of the case is made of plastic, it also sports a high quality shine.
In addition, the drive bays feature a very unique sliding bezel design. Each 5.25" bezel has a silver border. All bezels can slide down one at a time, exposing a maximum of three 5.25" and two 3.5" drive bays. Furthermore, with drives installed, the sliding bezels can be slid all the way up. This effectively hides the drives when they are not in use.
Sliding the 3.5" bezels down one step reveals the front ports which include a headphone port, microphone port, two USB ports, and a Firewire port. The lower portion of the Black Knight's front includes a power button, power LED, HDD LED, reset button, and a patch of vents for the front intake fan. The bottom bezels of both the 5.25" and 3.5" bezel systems are spring loaded from the back. When a rail slides down, the bottom most bezel is pushed back and the bezel above it slides down in front. Sliding the bezels down each level is pretty smooth, but not smooth to the point that they can slide down by themselves.
The left side panel features a rectangular acrylic window with an X pattern across its vertical center. In the middle of the window is an 80mm 4 LED fan covered with a gold colored standard fan grill. No information is given about the fan but it does spin quite fast putting out a moderately high amount of noise (est. ~32dB). The fan uses a 3-pin connector, but a 3-pin to Molex adapter is included. Both the left and right side panels have a groove that makes removing the panels easier.
The side fan is the only fan included with the case. The front of the case can accommodate either an 80mm, 92mm, or 120mm fan in front of the 3.5" bays. A fan placed here will actively cool down any hard drives installed in the bays. The rear of the case can support two 80mm fans. All together, the case can support 4 fans, not counting the power supply's fans.
The bottom of the case is unpainted and equipped with four gray rubber feet. On the back of the case are the standard assortments including a power supply bay cutout (with a PSU attached), I/O plate, 7 expansion slots (middle one featuring a red button whose function will be mentioned in the following section), and two 80mm fan vents. Both the right and left side panels are secured with 2 thumb screws.
