Q Technology Gold Series Power SupplyPurchased At: Quiet
PC
Packaging:
Quiet PC sent the Q Technology PSU in a standard brown shipping box. To secure the PSU inside, they used folded packing paper. The PSU box arrived unharmed.
Inside the retail box, the Gold Series PSU is wrapped in plastic. For a good reason too; the outside is a shinny steel that marks easily. The power supply is secured in the box using only its power cables. The box is packed tight so the supply will not slide around.
Features: Features can found on Quiet PC's web site.
Power Output
Description:
As mentioned before, the Gold Series PSU has a shinny metal surface. This makes the power supply look sleek, but also creates a nightmare of keeping it clean. I put my fingers on it and instantly there were prints. It took a lot of wiping to get the prints off. You almost need gloves for this supply. The back of the supply is fairly basic. A grill that allows air out of the supply and a power plug are all that is present. No power switch is present. In case of an emergency, I like have a switch I can flick off instead of pulling out the cord.
The best feature on this power supply is its fan. At 120mm it will move a lot of air with hardly any noise. The fan is about the size of the whole supply's underside. Every cable that plugs into the motherboard (20 Pin ATX, 12V and AUX) is wrapped. On the other cables are 8 four pin AT Molexes, 2 serial ATAs, and 2 floppy drive power connectors. Plenty of connections for your fans, peripherals, and lights.
On the side of the Q Technology power supply is an informational label. It informs the user about the power ratings and cautions the user not to remove the cover. Who really listens to those cautions? |
