Rivet HARMONY Stereo Headset LanyardDesign Benefits: As mentioned above, the proper way to wear the Rivet HARMONY stereo headset is around your neck like a lanyard. One of the main benefits of this design is that, given enough slack, there will be very little, if any, pressure exerted on the earbuds that are in your ear (the cord will not be tugging on them the way traditional earbud wearing would). This greatly helps the buds to actually stay in your ear. The lanyard design also allows the buds to dangle around your neck when they are temporarily not in use.
Another benefit of the design is that the microphone will be right around your neck, around your collar bone, which is more or less an ideal location for the mic to pick up your voice. Lastly, the lanyard design along with the built-in Rivet Micro Clip system allows you to easily attach and wear your music enabled cell phone around your neck. This rids the need for a separate lanyard and the possibility of all those cords tangling. Compatibility: First and foremost, Rivet's HARMONY stereo headset uses a 2.5mm, 4-contact (three black rings) headset jack that most cell phones (though not all) use. If your phone uses some proprietary headset connector then you are pretty much out of luck in trying to use the HARMONY with it (unless some adapter was included with your phone). However, even if your phone uses a 2.5mm jack, it still may not be fully compatible with the headset since there is actually no universal standard for the pin arrangement for 2.5mm plugs.
As far as I can tell, the HARMONY headset's pins are arranged (from tip to base) mic, left, right, ground. If your phone's 2.5mm jack is not arranged in this manor, then your phone will not be fully compatible with the headset. It would be really nice if Rivet includes a few adapters to account for the variations pin layouts as it would insure compatibility with all phones that have 2.5mm jacks. As of now, no adapters are included. When considering this headset for your phone, be sure (if possible) to test them out on your phone first.
