XTrac Hybrid Gaming PadProvided by: XTrac
Pads First off, I have to admit I might be considered biased with this review (I use xtrac pads myself). I promise up front to give you the most truthful review as possible, always. Today, I received the Hybrid mouse pad from XTrac, and Mad Dots as well. C.K. says that Xtrac has been working on this bad boy for 1-1/2 years. Let's see what all of that blood and sweat has accomplished.
Packaging: The items came packaged in a USPS priority shipping box. Not much to add to that, though the box did arrive in good shape.
The retail box for the mousepad is a nice change from the foam wrapped pad I received last time. It explains that Mad Dots are indeed included. I thought I was just special :0(
What You Get: Inside was the massive 16" x 10" Hybrid as well as a retail packaged strip of Mad Dots, an instruction page, and a nice Xtrac sticker. Xtrac's hybrid is a combination "old fashioned mousepad" backing and the Xtrac award winning surface for optical mousing. (It's a gaming pad in disguise)
A Closer Look: As suspected with any Xtrac product, the Hybrid performed flawlessly. With it's super slick surface, my mouse tracked perfectly, no matter what speed I was using it at. I had absolutely zero hangups or skips. The backing worked excellent on my keyboard tray and stayed put quite nicely.
As stated above, Mad Dots are included with the purchase. What are they? Think teflon feet for your mouse. The instructions that come with the pad say to use them in conjunction with the Hybrid for best results.
My favorite Microsoft Intellimouse Optical gets to be the lucky victim. It's feet are worn down to nearly the mouse body; therefore, I think it'll be a good candidate. (is that an Xtrac Zoom in the background? hmmmmm)
There isn't much to say about installing the Mad Dots. Wipe your mouse down with the included alcohol swab, and stick the dots on. Pretty simple.
Parting Shot: Looks like I found a new friend.
Conclusion: What can I say? The combination of the Hybrid and the Mad Dots blew me away more than the last review I did for Xtrac. Definitely an excellent combination for home/office users as well as graphic artists and gamers alike. They will all appreciate the added roominess of the Hybrid, I know I do! Pros:
