Bluetake i-PHONO Bluetooth Hi-Fi Sports Headphone Kit (cont)Description:
The i-PHONO kit consists of two main units, the BT420 Bluetooth Hi-Fi Sports Headphone and the BT430 Bluetooth Hi-Fi Audio Dongle. The audio dongle is a white square with rounded corners and edges. The overall style is like that of the iPod, minus the mirror back. In fact, the User Manual uses the iPod as its sample audio player that the audio dongle can be used with. The front of the dongle features a round pairing button surrounded by a semi-transparent LED circle. The left side features an on/off switch and a short (3") permanently attached audio-in cable with a 3.5mm plug. The bottom side has a power jack. On the back are dimple feet at each of the four corners and a rectangular indent for the included piece of magic tape.
The BT420 headphone is colored white with silver accents and a street style behind the head with a gray headband. The headband is collapsible and features soft rubber ear clips. Each ear pod is shaped like a flat egg with the narrower side pointing down. An on/off switch, power jack, and charging LED is at the bottom edge of the left pod. Volume +/- buttons, talk/pairing button, crescent shaped status LED, and a fold out microphone is on the right. Bluetake's BT420 arrives with white plates on the outer sides of the ear pods. They can be easily changed with any of the four included color plate sets (orange, red, green, blue).
Bluetake includes two ways for the user to securely attach the audio dongle to a portable audio player without letting it hang off of the audio-in. A set of magic tape (a pair of Velcro patches) and a magic band which is a small Velcro belt, are included.
There are two methods of charging the i-PHONO; through a standard wall outlet with the included AC adapter, or through a USB port with the included USB charging adapter. A splitter is included so both the audio dongle and headphone will charge simultaneously.
Finally, the included User Manual gives basic instructions on how to unfold the headphone and microphone; sync it with the audio dongle and cellphone; charge the units; attach the audio dongle to a portable audio player; and change the color plates. The manual also has tables of the LED identifications and button definition. Setup: The BT420 headphone is mainly designed to be used with the BT430 audio dongle but it can be paired with just about any other Bluetooth enabled cellphone, PDA, and computer. To pair the headphone with the audio dongle, turn both on, then press and hold their respective pairing buttons for 3 seconds until their LED indicators blink red and blue. When they become paired, the LEDs will stop blinking red and blue and will only blink blue about every 4 seconds.
The audio dongle can attach to any audio source with a 3.5mm audio out jack. Use the included magic tape to stick the dongle to a portable audio player by sticking one piece of the tape to the dongle and the other to the audio player. If sticking a piece of Velcro to your +$300 iPod is not your cup of tea, the dongle can be alternatively attached by laying the dongle flat against the player and fastening it to the player with the magic belt.
To pair the headphones with a Bluetooth enabled cellphone, follow the cellphone's instructions on pairing to a headset. When prompted, press and hold the headphone's pair button. The same goes with pairing the headphones with a Bluetooth enabled PDA or a computer with a Bluetooth adapter. The headphone can be paired with a maximum of 5 different Bluetooth devices at one time.
