With the advent of high powered and slim laptops, cooling has become a very important aspect of design. A major problem is that most of the heat is transferred to the bottom of the laptop which is where your lap is. </p> <p align="left">Using a temperature probe, I measured the temperature of my Compaq Centrino laptop from the bottom. At full load after being on for a couple of hours, temperatures reached 85F to 90F. These temperatures can quickly become a major annoyance to anyone with a laptop sitting in their lap. Cardboard cutouts hold the unit in place during shipping.
