Lian Li V2000B Aluminum Full Tower Case (cont.)Exterior: Lian Li's V2000B full tower case is made of aluminum. Whatever happened to the aluminum case? It seems most case manufacturers are abandoning this idea. The reason I like it is because it is super light, lighter than mid-towers a third the size.
Lian Li cases always have good looking exteriors. This case is no exception. The black, brushed aluminum is perfect. It does finger print very easily, so be careful. The bottom front of the case, along with the front's sides, have a mesh grill. Using a mesh grill allows for excellent air flow and also makes the case very light. On the very bottom are two USB ports, a FireWire port, an audio port and a microphone port. Above them is a neat looking Lian Li logo. The power button is in the middle. There is no reset switch, probably because this is more of a server case and you should not have to reset a server.
Moving up the case reveals a stealthed floppy drive mount. Each 5 1/4" drive bay is located above the power button. Each facing is also made of aluminum. The last bay at the top is a stealthed, aluminum optical drive facing. The very top of the case is rounded and meshed for air flow.
This looks interesting. The back of the case appears to be upside down but it's not. The motherboard mounts upside down with very shinny PCI slots near the top. For me, this makes it easier to hook up devices.
To remove the side panels you must unscrew the thumbscrew at the top. Then pull it to pop out the side panel. Notice the rough edging of the panels for some added design. You can also see the brushed aluminum, which is very professional.
In case you haven't noticed from any of the other pictures, this case is on wheels. Its light weight makes it hard to roll around on carpet when empty, but it was a very nice feature when I loaded it up. There is a brake on the back set of wheels. When set, the case does not roll at all, no matter how hard you push it. Air can flow through the bottom of the case through the mesh. Putting this case over an AC vent would be great for cooling.
