Logisys Assembled Clear Case (cont.)What you get: Once the ample shipping supplies were put aside, you finally get a look at what all that fuss is about. It's Logisys' CS888CL Assembled Clear Case. Nice indeed, and the addition of 5 80mm LED fans was even nicer!
Inside the case is a simple hardware package with four acrylic feet and a bag of specialty hardware. The reason the hardware is so special is the fact that the bolts need to be a certain length to secure the drives held within the acrylic casing. The feet were self sticking, nothing special there.
A Closer Look: Taking a look at the front of the case, you'll notice an 80mm intake with a snazzy blade type grill, two USB 2.0 ports, and multimedia ports.
The side panel sports twin 80mm intakes (came as exhaust so I switched them around). They have plain wire grills. It would have made the case much more interesting had Logisys continued the "blade theme" to all the case fans. It also would have jazzed up it's overall look and feel.
Up top is yet another 80mm fan mounted as a blowhole exhaust. Noticeable on all the fans is the fact that Logisys didn't opt for the "built-in" fan grill look most acrylic cases use. This aids in airflow as well as noise reduction.
The rear of the case sports a nice metal I/O housing instead of acrylic. This helps when aligning up your PCI cards and is much appreciated. Back here is also the last of the five included 80mm fans.
Inside the case, the multimedia and USB port cables are nicely sheathed while the front panel connections have a nice ribbon cable. This helps tidy the look of your wiring job. All the wires are neatly marked and I had no problems hooking everything up quickly, thanks to the markings. In the corner of this shot, you can just make out the pre-mounted speaker at the bottom of the case.
The drive bays are nicely configured. I like how Logisys has opted to make each side of the drive cage out of one piece of acrylic. It is bent it into shape rather than using multiple pieces. I had no trouble installing my drives, and everything fits here nicely.
The I/O plate did not have tooless slots, which would have been a nice addition. There is nothing special back here.
