Titanium Magic Color, 480W Power SupplyProvided by: A+
GPB Inc. A+ GPB builds solid and innovative power supplies like the True Silent. For a modder, the True Silent had a sweet looking Titanium case. Other than that it was only a quiet power supply. A+ GPB has given us the opportunity to review their Magic Color, 480 Watt PSU. Not only does this power supply have a Titanium cover but it has a multi-colored LED fan on the bottom along with other extras making perfect for displaying in your windowed case.
Packaging: To protect the power supply from scratches and damage during shipping, it is wrapped in bubble wrap and secured in a cardboard box. The bottom of this box was damaged slightly but it did not damage the supply.
Like the True Silent PSU, the titanium in the Magic Color power supply refers to its outside covering. The cover of this PSU is very shiny and will finger print easily. The shiny titanium provides a very sharp look. This is basically a chrome look

Power Output
Unlike average power supplies, the Color Magic has three main power leads with 3 AT connectors on each lead. That means 9 AT four pin power connections along with two four pin floppy drive power connectors. Lots of connectors is what I need for all my lighting, fans, CDRoms and hard drives. Extra connectors no Y cables. Each AT lead is about 20 inches to the first connector and about 6 inches to the following connectors. A Pentium 4 power connection also exists. If you need to hook your fans in, the Color Magic PSU includes 3 separate 12V power lines for fans or lights. These yellow and black lines are about 28 inches in length. A sleeved ATX, 20 pin, power cable increases cooling inside your case. The sleeved cable also allows the case to have a neater look. A GPB+'s Color Magic includes a Serial ATA adapter for newer Serial ATA devices. This is a new feature included with today's power supplies. The Serial ATA adapter will plug into one of the AT lines. It is not built in as with the True Silent. You are not mistaken, you are indeed looking at gold power leads in the above picture. I was shocked to see gold. Gold leads will make a stronger contact connection with devices and prevent against corrosion. The packaging calls these leads Fold Plated Connectors, I assumed with the True Silent that this was a spelling mistake. I am not sure now because two of their packages have stated Fold Plated Connectors. |
