MGE Quantum Case (cont.)A Closer Look Outside: Since this case is so different from most others I've reviewed, I'm going to take you on a little tour of the outside, then the inside. First off as previously stated, the side panels are meshed for presumably improved airflow over using acrylic windows. The mesh is gridded, so large in fact, that I think it's a safe, but those fan filters inside are going to have to filter out a lot of dust. This is kind of useless in my opinion; plus, the fans aren't even lined up properly to the mesh window.
Moving around to the backside, I was surprised to not see a motherboard tray. Everything else seemed so over done that I was disappointed. Everything else back here is as expected, though it was nice to see that the exhaust fan had plenty of room to breathe out of that nicely gridded grill.
This is the motherboard side panel. Yes, the motherboard side! Very unusual to see mesh windows on this side of a case, but with today's CPUs pumping out so much heat, perhaps every little bit helps.
Up top resides the multimedia ports nested inside a nice popup pod. It was refreshing to see Firewire incorporated into stock. Nice touch.
The front bezel has two doors, the first of which opens to reveal all the externally accessible drive bays, power, and reset buttons. I was saddened to see that in a $127 case, one of the drive bay covers was missing. They must assume everyone has an optical drive. Perhaps MGE will send me a replacement? Also, up here is the removable intake fan filter. You can just make out the reinforced ribbon cable that runs power to the front mounted control center.
