Sunbeam Mini BaybusProvided by: Sunbeam
Tech So, you think you have everything blinged inside your case? Think again. Sunbeam has a nifty little idea that may just put a spark back into your modding mojo. Introducing SunbeamTech's Mini Baybus.
Packaging: Sunbeam sent a ton of items to A True Review, crammed into a plain cardboard box. Included with these items is the Sunbeam Mini Bay Bus and LED Projector.
Included in the box I received was the baybus and a little LED Projector spotlight named the "LED Projector".
Features: All of the Sunbeam Mini Baybus features can be found at Sunbeam Tech's website.
Retail Packaging The mini baybus comes retail packaged in a blister pack with the typical Sunbeam graphics. This package shows features and functionality as well as specifications and instructions.
What You Get: The mini baybus comes packaged by itself as a stand alone install. The upside is that there's nothing to put together. You just plug it in and it works! A Closer Look: The bottom of the baybus is covered entirely with a thick two sided tape, for semi-permanent installation.
The baybus is nicely manufactured as a small, compact unit. There are four outputs and one input Molex. Also, there is one green and one red LED which when lit assures your connection is correct. If one or both indicator LEDs are not lit, your connection is deemed "bad".
Power On Plugging in a spare Molex connector powers the unit on. The Molexes are nicely backlit with blue LEDs while the indicator lights are surprisingly brilliant.
Surprisingly, the LED projector does exactly what it sounds like, it projects an image backlit by an LED (in this case a red LED). It comes with several interchangeable discs that you can use to change the projected picture. A nice little novelty. A nice thick pad serves as the doublestick adhesive for installation. As hard as I tried to get excited about this product, I couldn't for it's a novelty.
Where once you had one boring Molex connector, you now have four to play with. As you can see, I decided to play with the LED Projector, nice.
Conclusion: The Sunbeam Mini Baybus is a nice little add-on for
some extra case lighting where one would hardly expect to find it.
Though Sunbeam's website attests that it provides four channels,
rest assured it does not. It merely serves to split one of your
rails into several outputs. Something to consider if you have a
low powered PSU to begin with. As far as the LED Projector, well
it's a nice toy.
