The Mouse PawInstallation: I decided to use my old desk chair as the fortunate victim. With it's nice wide armrests, it should be a choice candidate for The Mouse Paw. As you can see, it tilts slightly to the right from years of myself leaning into the keyboard tray to use the mouse.
Installation begins by fitting The Mouse Paw where it feels comfortable to the user. I choose to install it using the full length of my armrest to ensure stability, but you can install it in a more forward position if desired.
After bringing the straps around and through the nearest holes, all that's left to do is cinch it up. The sturdy, yet flexible foam conformed to the armrest of the chair, resulting in a nice custom fit. I chose to use both of the wedges provided to help hold the mousepad section up a little better, which aided in it's sturdiness. As you can see, the foam wraps around the armrest are nice and snug, keeping The Mouse Paw in place.
Once you have the straps tight and hide them out of site, you're done. Easy wasn't it? The completed installation is pretty impressive. I couldn't wait to try it out and end my years of torturous leaning :0) I think it looks pretty good to boot.
Testing: Testing was super simple. I plugged in the IR receiver and started using The Mouse Paw right away. The receiver at desktop level was even with my chair height, so connectivity wasn't a problem. In fact, I could comfortably use the mouse all the way across my office area, some 12 feet away from the computer. I did not test it beyond that range, simply because I wouldn't be able to read my monitor that far away.
The mouse "well" as it's called is imbedded directly into the foam. This creates a nice straight line from the mouse to your wrist. It will definately cut down on wrist pain after those long hours at the PC. Could the Mouse Paw actually be a health benefit? I'm going to say "Yes".
Conclusion: I'm stoked! The best part? I was finally able to relax in my chair and surf the web, use applications, and be happy that I was no longer leaning into that keyboard tray to use the mouse. I still have to buddy up to the tray in order to use the keyboard, but perhaps "The KeyPaw" is coming soon. Now that would be bliss! It doesn't take a pro to tell you the value of The
Mouse Paw. Go price an upscale mousepad, add on a Logitech Cordless
optical, and look at the difference. All-in-all a good value in
my opinion.
