NZXT Nemesis Elite Mid Tower Computer Case (cont.)Features: I'll admit, the overall look and feel of this case isn't for everyone. With the "armored" front end and it's almost robotic look, this case screams, "Look at me!" The LED display can be raised or lowered, while the added multi-media, USB, and Firewire ports are revealed with a turn of the top mounted pod. An externally accessible power switch means no more opening the door to turn your PC on or off.
The door is held shut utilizing two very tiny magnets located at the top and bottom corners of the door. I found that the door held securely, despite a slight tilting to test the magnet's strength. Opening the door reveals a small button on the backside that controls the seven color LED. Here as well are four externally accessible 5-1/4" bays, two externally accessible 3-1/2" bays, and power/reset switches.
The LCD display on the top is much more than a little
LED display. The backlit device is functional as well as practical.
It serves as: clock (with alarm), fan controller, temperature sensor
x3 and alarm, as well as a perpetual calendar.
The window looks spectacular with the brushed aluminum trim. Added to the 120mm LED fan is a custom 120mm fan grill and nice mesh filter. One thing I don't like is the aluminum strengthening bar. It's an accepted case design, but it could have been moved out of the way of the window. Modders take heed; the bar can be easily moved/removed. There's plenty of room inside to move the bar up and out of sight.
Inside are four 5-1/4" bays and five 3-1/2" bays. The sideways cage aids in airflow as well as hard drive cooling and ease of drive replacement. (raid anyone?) There's also tons of nooks and crannies to hide your wiring if you crave a tidy case. The rear of the case shows drastic improvements to the "old design" as well. Gone is the stepped design, replaced by a smooth 120mm mesh covered mount and smooth rolled edges throughout.
Spoiled by removable motherboard trays, I was saddened to see the NZXT Nemesis Elite didn't have one. There's still plenty of room to work though, maybe next time on the tray. The computer case is ATX, Baby AT, Mini ATX, and Micro ATX compatible.
The front bezel detaches easily and without tools. I was happy to see the lack of hot-glue mess that many manufacturers use to keep wires in check. The 120mm intake has a nicely meshed screen to cut down on dust, and the fan is mounted for easy tooless removal and cleaning.
