Nitro Ax Full Tower Server CaseInterior: Removing the side door reveals the case's interior. This is not your normal inside, thank you I-Star. Starting with the PSU area of the case, one will see the quality. Most cases just give you a little leaf to rest the PSU on. I-Star's Nitro Ax computer case provides two rails that extend to the front of the case. All the weight of the PSU rests on these rails when installed. I will note that with 4 screws, I have never had a leaf fail.
Below the PSU guides is the 120mm fan. This fan is very quiet, so quiet the only thing I heard was a slight sound of its bearings. I would say somewhere around 20 DB. With quietness comes a lack of air flow. In a server style cases such as this, I would have liked to see the fan move more air and would recommend replacing it with a fan that does.`
A green tab is below the fan. Lifting the green tab releases the expansion slot guide, allowing for cards to be installed. Moving to the lower left of the case are the 3.5 inch drives. These drive bays are situated sideways for easy accessibility. Pressing in the side metal tabs releases the hard drive bracket. On the bottom of the bracket is rubber washers. Screws are screwed through the rubber washers, through the bracket, and into the drive. These washers reduce noise created by HDD vibration.
To put in a 3 1/2 inch external drive, the drive cage above the internal drive bay must be pulled out. Your floppy or other 3 1/2 inch external drive will then have to be screwed into this cage.
Rails are used for external 5 1/4 inch drives. These rails are located in the front face of the case. The face does not have to be removed to get to the rails. Popping out a plastic bay cover will allow access to the two rails that are needed. These rails screw into the drive, then the drive is slid into the bay.
The bottom front of the case supports a 120mm intake fan. This fan is not provided, but I would suggest it. Also in the below picture is a shot of the USB cords. When the USB bracket swivels these cables are stressed. The USB wires are together in a connection and are not individual wires, making plugging them into your board, much easier for there is no need to pin them out.
Another nice feature of the Nitro Ax Case is a removable motherboard tray. Remove the thumbscrews on the top and bottom of the tray, then pop the tray out. Once the tray is out, a board is installed. The one problem that I see is that the tray is pulled forward to take it out; thus, not removed through the back of the case. If you have a lot wires this can be a bit of a pain.
