Mainly you want this program if you are only have one DVD drive in your computer. It makes an image drive that acts like another DVD burner. I decided to use Alcohol 120% to backup a PS2 game. </p> <p align="center"><a href="atruereview/nu/alcohol.gif"><img src="atruereview/nu/alcoholth.gif" alt="Nu DDW-081 DVD Recorder" border="0" width="300" height="244"></a><br> <font size="-1">Click on image for larger picture</font> </p> <p align="left">This program worked great with the Nu DVD burner performing a disk to disk copy. Another good plus for Nu.</p> <p align="left"><strong>Nero (Testing):</strong></p> <p align="left">My opinion is that Nero is the best CD and DVD burning software on the market. I have never had a problem getting Nero to recognize a drive where I have had that problem with other burning software like EZ CD Creator, especially with USB drives.<strong></strong></p> <p align="left">As expected the Nero recognized the Nu DVD drive. I copied audio and data CDs via Nero. One of the tracks that didn't copy with My Sonic copied fine with Nero. The other one didn't, leaving me to believe that MP3 was bad or encoded wrong. I used the CD-DVD speed program to test the speed of the Nu DVD ROM. <strong>Note:</strong> This is after the firmware updates, I should have grabbed one before the update, but didn't think about it.</p> <p align="center"><a href="atruereview/nu/samsung.gif"><img src="atruereview/nu/samsungth.gif" alt="Nu DDW-081 DVD Recorder" border="0" width="300" height="221"></a><br> <font size="-1">Click on image for larger picture</font> </p> <p>Unfortunately, the Nu drive is the only DVD writer I have. I chose to test it against the Samsung SD-816B which is a 16X DVD ROM. The Nu DVD ROM beat out the Samsung DVD ROM. Full seek times were also faster although, the Nu did eat up more CPU.</p> <p><strong>More Testing:</strong></p> <p>Not sure that I totally trusted the Nero results, I went to Sandra for a second opinion. So much for the 16X read speed, which is probably only on the inner track.</p> <p><strong>Conclusion:</strong></p> <p>A big thank you goes out to <a href="http://www.pctoyland.com/">PCToyLand</a> for providing us with the Nu DVD recorder to review.</p> <p>If you are looking for a DVD recorder, I recommend that you are, than the NU DDW-081 8X DVD+RW DVD recorder is a solid choice. It ran every application I put it through. The DDW-081 also comes with applications to get you going.
