Sunbeam Tech Nuuo 550W PSU
Description:
Sunbeam's Nuuo is a great looking supply. It is a darker, metallic silver that surprisingly did not finger print easily.

The main fan on the bottom is a huge 120mm fan. A rear 80mm fan is present in as well. Also, on the back is a power switch and a power plug.

The best feature of the Nuuo is on the front. This PSU uses cables that plug into the PSU. This allows the user to connect only the cables that they need. Therefore, if the PCI Express cable is not needed, it is not hooked up. This allows for more open space inside the computer case; thus, allowing for better airflow and better lighting effects. Covers are included to protect the non-used ports and the computer against shorts.

Each cable is sleeved, and there are a lot of cables. Sleeving also cleans up a messy system.

There are 2 serial ATA cables, each having 2 connectors. There is a PCI Express cable, a floppy drive splitter cable (splits Molex into two floppy drive connectors), and 4/8 pin 12V cable. The PCI Express cable is very thick and includes a ferrite to ensure clean power.

There are also 3 Molex cables with 4 connectors, though one must be plugged to the PSU. Three of the connectors have a quick disconnect end. Unfortunately, in the middle is the one non-disconnect connector. Sunbeam does this for a 90 degree Molex connector, which could be helpful with drives close together. The quick disconnect connectors do aid quite a bit in detaching the Molex. If the little piece of plastic is not pressed against the Molex female, then it does not work. If that happens, the piece of plastic just has to be moved into position.
On the PSU's front are ports for the temperature monitor and to control the fans. Also, included is a port that a case fan can be hooked to. This allows the case fan to be controlled with the PSU.

The fan controller included with this Nuuo is silver (black also available) and fits in a 3.5 inch external drive bay. These drive bays are becoming fewer and fewer in cases today. Therefore, this might not work for you as it didn't for me. I only have one 3.5 inch drive bay that was already used.
I did use the controller outside the case. To control the case fan, I needed to plug the fan controller into the 120mm fan port. This also controls the 120mm fan. An 80mm fan port allows the controller to control the rear fan. This is the nosier of the fans, but running in low mode both fans are barely heard. Infact I have to look at my front LED any more to figure out if the case is even on. In high mode the fans are slightly present, nothing you will hear with your case on the floor.

The front of the fan controller has an LCD display in the middle. This display shows the temperature that the temperature probe is reading from the PSU. There are two temperature reading points from inside the PSU.
In the upper left is a button to change the display from Celsius to Fahrenheit. On the right is a control knob. This knob is set in auto mode. Auto mode is a smart mode where the PSU adjusts fan speed based on temperature inside the supply. This is the mode that the PSU runs in without the fan controller hooked to it. Turning the knob allows you to control the fan that corresponds to the port that the controller is plugged into.
