Can you say WOW! This supply has some very impressive voltages. It definitely delivers performance.
One more test I like to do with power supplies on the market today, is test their efficiency. This supply touts 62% - 72%. Let's see how it compares to Aspire's ATX-AS500W.
I did two tests, the first test while defragging my RAID 1 and the second test was while running Sandra's CPU Arithmetic Test. To measure this, I used Seasonic's Power Angel.
Defrag |
CPU Bench |
|
| Nuuo | 203W |
217W |
| Aspire | 207W |
235W |
While the defrag test did not show a lot of difference, there was almost an 8% difference under a solid load. Sunbeam Tech's Nuuo can save you some extra money each year versus an average PSU. This is not enough to quit your day job, but maybe enough to pay for the extra cost after a few years.
Conclusion:
Sunbeam Tech's Nuuo is a great looking power supply. More important is that its performance is awesome. It is more efficient than a standard supply and more quiet than most I have heard. The voltages are insanely good. Adding plug in power connections and a way to monitor the supply is icing on the cake.
The only complaint I have is that the fan/temp monitor only fits in a 3.5 inch drive bay.
Pros:
- Great voltage readings
- Quiet
- Detachable power leads
- Lots of cabling options
- Fan controller
Cons:
- Fan controller on fits 3.5 bay
