RAM Mod - BlueProvided by: Razotech A relatively new SoCal company, Razotech, who specializes in high performance PC gaming cases, PC modification accessories, and much more has provided us with an interesting mod. Today, we take a look at their Ram Mod.
Packaging: Razotech's RAM Mod came packaged in a standard USPS Priority box, a little banged-up, but thanks to the great packing, nothing was damaged.
Specifications: All of the RAM Mod specifications can be found on www.razotech.com.
Retail Packaging: The RAM Mod comes retail packaged in a nice box with lots of graphics, features and functionality. It also includes specifications. Unfortunately, there are no instructions, but it's fairly easy to figure out. What You Get: You'll get the Ram Mod module; a wiring harness with attached PCI slot bracket and switch; and a bag of hardware.
A Closer Look: Razotech's RAM Mod module is basically a few LED diodes clustered inside an acrylic housing. The look is a little different, and reminded me of waves on the water. Two pins provide power to one end of the module, lighting it in eight different configurations. All of these configurations are controlled by the PCI slot mounted switch. Push the button and get a different sequence.
Once powered up, I played with the different sequences. It worked flawlessly; the LEDs were nice and bright.
All that was left was to slip the Ram Mod over my stick of RAM, mounting done.
Power On: Here's a couple shots of the RAM Mod installed and in action. Not too bad, and it was kind of fun watching the LEDs in "chase mode".
Conclusion: Razotech's RAM Mod was a cinch to install. In my opinion, just a novelty, but for anyone looking to add a little extra "bling" to their case, it may just be worth the investment. The downside: if you want to add more than one to your system RAM, you'll need some empty PCI slots. Pros:
