Samsung 173P Color TFT LCD Display (cont.)Testing: As far as first impressions, I couldn't find one single dead pixel. The picture was amazingly clear, something we'll check thoroughly later using the included MagicTune Software. Furthermore, the blacks were just that, black! Nice. All settings are done automatically, and the display
adjusts all by itself MagicTune will only work on Windows. If you have a Mac or Linux, you will not be able to tune the LCD display. Testbed
The first MagiTune test was for brightness. The settings on our display actually wouldn't go dark enough to complete the test, but that's a good thing, right?
The next test was for contrast. This one went without a hitch. The 173P had a lot of leeway in either direction.
Last but not least is the Wizard. This pretty much sets everything for you based on your preferences.
Return To Castle Wolfenstein and Need For Speed
Underground DVD's looked more clear than ever before in all resolutions
as well. The Conclusion: Big thanks goes out to Samsung for providing this product for review. This display was soooo good, I can't wait to get my hands on their next flagship. A bit of warning to the frugal, this isn't for you. This display is sold out and backordered all over the USA. Even if you do find one, expect the $600 dollar range. If you shop around, you may be able to get one for $550 which is what Samsung's flyer mentions. On the other hand, it's totally worth it. No ghosting and the quick response time alone would make this a gamer's delight. I definitely recommend this display for anyone interested in an investment. trust me, you won't be disappointed!
