Scythe Kamakaze CPU CoolerProvided by: Scythe
Packaging: The Scythe Kamakaze comes packaged in a card board box that shows the cooler. Most of the lettering on the box is Japanese since Scythe is a company in Japan. Specifications: Manufacturer rated specs for the Scythe Kamakaze as listed on Scythe's web site, http://www.scythe-usa.com/.
Features:
Using the fan controller, the cooler is very flexible in its ability to switch fan speeds. Another nice feature is that the Kamakaze supports multiple processors, P4, PIII, and AMD socket A chips. However, what first strikes you when you take it out of the box is that this cooler is huge.
The good thing about the size; however, it is tall instead of spread out like the Zalman 7000 cpu cooler or wide like the Thermalright 900u. You should not have to worry about incompatibility problems with the Northbridge or capacitors on any boards. You might notice from the pictures how the wires are tied together. When you get them all untied and routed it causes a mess inside the case. The picture above shows you how they look while on the motherboard and are all undone. While the wires may be a problem, the this cooler is of a high quality, seen by the high gloss shine of copper on the bottom.
The Kamakaze has a solid copper core at the bottom. Most of the weight distribution is from the slab of copper even though it looks like it should be from the contraption holding on the fan. The top of the cooler is just like a Swiftech using the pins to draw heat away from the copper to be dissipated by the fan. |
