Thermaltake Silent Boost Heatsink, A1889 (cont.)Installation:
I've replaced and tested alot of heatsinks, but this one put up a phenomenal fight going onto my Asus A7N8X Deluxe. The small mounting clip is a design disaster. The clip kept snapping under the heatsink and I nearly cracked my core trying to get it repositioned. An eighth inch taller clip would have made a world of difference. Testing:
Today's testing comes in the form of an AMD 2400+ but don't worry speed freaks - this heatsink is rated up to 3400+. As mentioned before the board is an Asus A7N8X Deluxe. Once the fight was over and the heatsink was on it was testing time. The Silent boost surpassed stock sink at 30 minutes idle, and under a 30 minute load of SiSoft Sandra 2004 Pro burn In, the Thermaltake blew it away completely and was whisper quiet!
The Silent Boost is a sure fire performer, and deserves a hard look from mild overclockers. When overclocked by 10%, 2200 MHz, the Silent Boost was 35C (95F) idle, 44C (111.2) under load. SiSoft Sandra 2001 SE Pro was used for the CPU burnin and ClockGen for the overclock. Conclusion
