FSP Silent Solution KitProvided by: FSP A lot of casual computer users hesitate to upgrade to a current system because of the increase in noise they fear the new computer will bring. Anyone who has ever used an "older" computer like a pentium 3 knows how quiet they run, albeit not very powerful. Why is the modern computer so noisy? In one word: cooling. Today's computers generate massive amounts of heat and need an equally massive amount of fresh air to operate at safe temperatures. The unwanted by-product of this necessary air flow is... you guessed it, noise. Components that generate the most noise more often then not are the HSF, case fans, and power supply. Though there are low noise versions for these parts, shopping for them separately can be a daunting and expensive task for most people. Luckily FSP has made the process of quieting your computer very easy with their Silent Solution Kit. The Silent Solution Kit includes a low noise power supply (300W or 350W), a low noise CPU cooler (AMD or Intel), and a low noise case fan. This review will be discussing the SK350A kit which is configured with a 350W power supply and an AMD heatsink. Packaging:
The Silent Solution Kit is packaged in a full colored retail box with a plastic handle on top. The retail box arrived in a brown shipping box and is held in place with pieces of folded cardboard. One side of the retail package tells that the power supply and CPU cooler are enclosed. The other side gives the specifications of the of the included items. The inside of the retail box is divided by two smaller boxes; one holding the bubble wrapped power supply and the other holding the CPU cooler and case fan.
