SilverStone TJ06 Computer Case (cont.)Exterior:
Silverstone's TJ06 follows the aluminum face and steel body formula that SilverStone uses on all their tower models. The overall look of the case is very sophisticated and quite impressive. The face of the TJ06 along with all the drive bezels are brushed. Indented vertical lines run down the center of the face bypassing the drive bezels. Between theses lines, in the section below the 3.5" bays, are vents for the front intake fans. Also, in the vertical center of this section are the power button, reset button, power LED and HDD LED access LEDs.
Moving on, the top and two sides of the TJ06 feature a slightly coarse finish. This finish gives off a decent shine while being fingerprint resistant. The "front" I/O ports are located on the front edge of the left side of the computer case. There are four USB 2.0, one FireWire, one audio out, and one microphone out ports. Also, on this edge about halfway up, is a keyhole which unlocks the face of the TJ06. When unlocked, the entire front panel can swing open for installation of the exposed drives.
The bottom of the case features four gray round rubber feet which are connected on four plastic pivoting "shoes". These shoes can be rotated outward to give more stability to the tall TJ06.
The back of the case features the usual assortment but with some differences in orientation. At the top is a removable PSU plate while the bottom half the back resembles any other ATX case, just rotated 180 degrees. In this rotated orientation, the PCI slots are above the I/O shield plate and rear exhaust fan grill. The reason for this will be elaborated more on in the Interior section of the review. From the back you can see that the two side panels are each secured by two clear plastic slide clips. Next to each clip is a screw hole if you feel that the clips are not enough. The right panel (if the front of the case was facing you) features two extending tabs with holes that allow you to use a padlock to lock the case.
