SkyHawk BAX-B5602 Computer Case (cont.)Exterior:
SkyHawk's BAX-B5602 case sports a grayish silver semi-glossy paint job on all sides except for the back and bottom. The front side is made of plastic while the rest of the case is made of steel. Accenting the plastic are aluminum panels which run down the center length of the front panel. These aluminum panels have a light brushed texture and are also glossed.
The front panel features SkyHawk's Patent Sideslip Door which is a standard drive bay door except after it is opened; it can slide back along the right side of the case. Opening the door exposes the four 5.25" and two 3.5" drive bays, which are each covered with a plastic drive bay bezel.
Directly below the Sideslip Door are the power LED, HDD LED, reset button and power button. At the bottom of the front panel is a long door which opens to reveal two USB ports, two audio ports, and a perforated cutout for a FireWire port (not included).
Integrated into the left side panel is the Rotary Cooling Pipe system which, consists of two levels of rotate-able "gears". The CPU wind guide part is covered with a standard 80mm fan bezel. The Rotary Cooling Pipe will be discussed further in next section. Below it is a rectangular patch of vents.
The bottom of the BAX-B5602 case features four rubber feet.
The back of the case features the usual assortments. There is a cutout for the power supply, vents for the rear exhaust fan, pop out I/O shield, and 7 expansion slots – each covered with a pop out cover. The BAX-B5602 is the type of case where the motherboard sits as far back in the case as possible. This can be observed because the I/O shield and expansion slots are not recessed into the case. With this type of case, expansion cards are screwed down from the outside of the case. A long door covers expansion card securing tab. The left and right side panels of the case are secured with thumb screws.
Overall, the BAX-B5602 case is very light for a case made of steel. This would be mainly due to the fact that it is built with 0.6mm steel instead of 1.0mm steel the majority of other steel cases use. In addition to a lighter overall weight, the overall strength of the case is a bit weak making it rather dent prone.
