Swissbit Twist USB Flash Drive (cont.)Performance:
The Twist is rated as a USB 2.0 device. To demonstrate its performance, two other USB 2.0 rated flash drives will be used for comparison: the MeMIX Memory Watch and PQI Intelligent Stick. The first test is Sandra’s File System Benchmark. The results were:
The Twist put out some pretty good numbers; just slightly slower than the Flash Watch and I-Stick. The second test is transferring one 118mb mp3 file. The results were:
For this test, the Twist did really well providing a smidge faster read time and a noticeably faster write time than both the Flash Watch and I-Stick. The third test is transferring 117mb worth of pictures. This test is included because most storage mediums perform slower at transferring many files compared to transferring one big file. The results were:
For this test, the Twist put out about the same read time as the other two and had a Write time between the Flash Memory and I-Stick, which is not bad at all. The Twist includes Swissbit's SecureLOCK software which can be used to create public and private partitions on the flash drive. Private partitions will require a password login to access data stored on that partition. The SecureLOCK software also has a repair function that will format the drive, repairing any and all bad blocks. Lastly, the software is used create a boot disk out of the Twist. Conclusion: Swissbit has a great product on their hands. The Twist with its "twist" cover design will make loosing the protective cap a thing of the past. Performance is right on par with other USB 2.0 flash drives. The physical look of the Twist is very appealing, featuring an attractive color casing (color depends on memory capacity) . Anyone looking to get a new USB flash drive cannot go wrong with the Swissbit Twist. Pros:
