Thermaltake Volcano Heat ExchangerDescription: Simply put, Thermaltake's Volcano Heat Exchanger is a combination of a waterblock and radiator. Resembling a "tower" heatpipe heatsink, the Volcano features a silver brazing waterblock with a square radiator mounted on top of it. The radiator is attached to the waterblock with two steel side frames. Black rubber hoses are used to connect the copper tubes running through the radiator to the waterblock. They are also used to provide inlet and outlets for the heat exchanger.
The square radiator features 10 liquid loop channels meaning the copper tubes pass through the radiator a total of 20 times (2 per loop). The steel frame that holds the radiator above the waterblock is capable of supporting up to two fans (8cm or 9cm), though none are actually included.
A universal CPU mounting bracket comes pre-attached on the waterblock. The base of the waterblock features a raised circular section at the center. The lap job of the base (both the circle and surrounding area) is superb; it has a near flawless mirror shine.
Three sets (of different sizes) of quick tube install connectors are included to broaden the Volcano's compatibility with various water-cooling setups. Based on the included connectors, Thermaltake's Volcano Heat Exchanger is compatible with tube sizes of (inner diameter) 4mm, 6.4mm (1/4"), and 10mm (3/8"). Other things included with the Volcano include all the mounting plates and screws needed for installation, a small bag of thermal grease, and a full color user manual featuring well documented and pictured installation instructions.
Though the Volcano is designed to be compatible with all the common CPU types, its height (153.5mm) can easily cause compatibility problems with certain computer cases. I would estimate that any case that cannot support a rear 12cm exhaust fan may potentially be incompatible with the Volcano.
