Sunbeam Transformer Gaming Case (cont.)Exterior: The best feature of Sunbeam's Transformer case is the full size window door. Swirling metal adds a unique design to the door.
Dual intake fans are located on the door. One fan is directly over the video card, providing it with fresh cool air. Another fan in the center of the window will bring more air into the case. It seems out of place because it does not blow air over anything. Each 80mm fan produces a little more than 32CFM at about 28 dBA. Oh yeah, both fans are blue LED fans that add some lighting for that huge window.
Each fan is covered by a stylish "Blade" fan grill. These fan grills will not do a lot to protect fan blades for fingers can fit between the grill. So, be careful when poking around. I must say they do look good. As mentioned earlier, the window was not covered with a plastic. There are light scratches on the window. Nothing visible from a foot away, but if you look up close, you will see them.
Also, on the door is a spring loaded handle. Push it in and pop the door off. Of course, don't forget to remove the thumb screws first. In case you don't want everyone opening your door, there is a key lock to the right of the handle.
The the front face was shipped separate from the case to prevent damage; therefore, I'll start with the inner front. Metal knock out plates cover the drive bays. Down bottom is a 120mm fan bay. This is the only bay without a fan. I would like to see one for this would blow over the hard drives. To install the fan, pop the fan in, no screws! There are two holes that can be used to screw the fan in for those who want a more secured fan. You can even remove the bracket and screw the fan in. I would recommend this for I like to have my fans screwed down so they don't rattle.
Popping on the front reveals a streamlined, balanced look. The bottom grill is three dimensional and comes to a point a few inches in front of the case. The white grill has slits to allow for air to enter the front 120mm fan. Also, could make for an interesting lighting effect. Opening the door reveals the 3 1/2 and 5 1/4 inch drive bays. A power switch, hard drive LED, and power LED are on the right. On the left is the reset button.
You will like the top of the Transformer computer case. A blow hole fan is located there. It has the same stylish "Blade" fan guard and blue LED fan as the door. Towards the front, right of the case are the audio and USB ports. This is nice for plugging in cameras and memory sticks. No one likes reaching around their case to plug these in.
Pretty standard is the back of the case. You can see the 120mm exhaust fan on the back. I like the 120mm fan for it pushes more air with less RPMs; thus, less noise. To hold the side panels on, thumbscrews are used.
Because the case is taller than most mid-towers, extensible case feet are on the bottom. Just turn them outward to balance the case.
