Razer Copperhead and Logitech G5: A Tale of Two Gaming MiceRazer Copperhead Description: Razer's Copperhead is also shaped much like its own predecessor, the Diamondback. In the true Razer tradition, Copperhead is vertically symmetrical, which allows left hand use of the mouse to be as comfortable as right hand use.
The curved top of the mouse peaks at about one-third from the bottom where the palm of your hand generally would lay. It is a non-transparent black surface with a soft texture. At about the peak of the top is a soft transparent Razer tri-snake symbol. The front portion of the Copperhead's top is occupied by Razer's infamous oversized, velvet textured main buttons. Each button has a recessed groove which allows fingers to comfortably find and rest in the middle each button. Between the two buttons is a slightly transparent white scroll wheel. As a very nice touch, the rim of the wheel is notched (think pennies) for increased traction when scrolling.
Like its predecessors, the Copperhead features semi-transparent, dense rubber, non-slip side rails. The area under the side rails is non-transparent with a glossy texture. Additionally, the areas under the side rails are grooved inward.. At the top of each groove are two long curved buttons.
The bottom of the Copperhead features three Zero-Acoustic Ultraslick™ Teflon feet – two small boomerang shaped pads at the top corners and a larger crescent shaped pad at the bottom. Above the bottom pad, towards the right, is a recessed button (whose function will be discussed in the next section).
Extending out of the front of the Copperhead is a 7-foot lightweight cord with a gold USB plug at the end. The gold plug, though it will not improve signal quality, helps prevent corrosion.
Razer's Copperhead is available in three colors: Anarchy Red, Chaos Green, and Tempest Blue. The model featured in this review is the Tempest blue and when the mouse is on, the non-slip rails as well as the scroll wheel glows with a purplish blue. The tri-snake logo at the top of the mouse slowly pulsates with the same jazzy color.
Both the G5 and Copperhead come with oversimplified installation guides as well as their respective drive discs.
