XKROMA Ultimate CaseExterior: XKROMA's mirror finish is exceptional. It also made it very hard for me to take pictures of the case with all the reflection. Of course, this also means the case's surface is very fragile. It will show everything from scratch to a small dent to a fingerprint. In fact, the surface of the case had a couple of small scratches and a small dent. These probably go unnoticed on a flat paint case but are visible on the XKROMA. It is the case's paint that makes the chrome look, so it is important not to chip it, which is hard to do.
The front of the case also has the chrome look. The drive bays are a black plastic as is the USB port cover. A black 80mm mesh fan grill is on the lower portion of the front panel. XKROMA is plastered across the grill in chrome.
The front ports are accessible by pressing on the plastic panel. It will pop open revealing the ports. There are two USB ports, as well as an audio and microphone port. A punch out is included if the motherboard has a header for the 1394 IEEE FireWire port. Lastly, on the very left there is a power button that controls the lights.
Speaking of lights, there are 8 LED lights around the case. They are on each post at the top and bottom of the case.
The side panels include a locking handle at the top. Turning it locks and unlocks the panel. Once unlocked, the panel slides up with a bit of force. Good thing XKROMA includes cloth gloves for handling the case. This avoids finger prints when opening the panels.
The back of the case is kind of unique. It feels like the chrome is an outer shell, over the case. There is about a three inch gap between the outside of the case and where the slots and ports are for the motherboard. The exterior has the chrome finish and a mesh grill, while the inside has a flat steel look. This is an interesting design and I am sure with some ingenuity someone can come up with some cool lighting mods.
