The main component of the HiFi-Link for iPod is indeed the rectangular dock. Xitel's HiFi-Link for iPod is one of the first devices to support Apple's new iPod Dock Adapter system. Beginning with the new video capable iPod and iPod Nano, all new iPods come with a plastic Dock Adapter. This allows an iPod to fit with any iPod accessory that supports the Dock Adapter system. By adopting this system, Xitel insures that the HiFi-Link for iPod will be compatible with any new iPods that become available in the future. This window is used to receive the signals from the included remote control. The back of the dock features three gold plated composite ports (one video, two audio). Also on the back is a DC port, which the included AC adapter plugs into. The bottom side features 5 round rubber feet for traction on whatever surface the dock is placed on. The top side of the glossy white remote features 5 gray rubber buttons, four of which are arranged in a circle surrounding the fifth button. This "studio grade" cable, as Xitel claims, is decked in white and fully shielded. An RCA to headphone jack adapter is also included.
