Zalman VF700-AlCu VGA CoolerProvided By: Zalman While the majority of the CPU cooler market has embraced incorporating heat pipes into their coolers, Zalman has found a great deal of success with its zero heatpipe CFPS7 series of oversized bowl shaped CPU coolers. They offer very quiet, albeit not supreme, cooling performance. Now, Zalman has applied the same oversized heatsink and fan cooler design into a cooler that cools the second hottest chip in a computer system, the video card's GPU (graphics processing unit). Introducing the Zalman VF700-AlCu VGA cooler.
Packaging: Zalman's VF700 comes packaged in a snap shut blister package. The front of the package displays the product's name, a compatibility notice, and a general estimate of the cooler's performance over stock coolers.
The back of the package has the product features and specifications lists along with a caution on installation and usage of the VF700. Contents:

Description:
Similar to the CNPS7 series of CPU coolers, the VF700-AlCu has a big 80mm fan (big for a GPU cooler) integrated inside an oversized "flower" heatsink. The AlCu means that the heatsink on this cooler is part aluminum and part copper. Zalman also has an all copper version of the VF700.
Because one side of the GPU has minimal clearance (due to the video card's perpendicular orientation with the motherboard), only one half of the VF700 is fully "blossomed" with long spread out fins. The other half has stubby compact fins. The circular base of the heatsink has the same superior lap job found on all Zalman heatsinks.
Zalman's integrated fan is thinner than the average 80mm fan and has 11 fins, compared to the standard 7. This fan uses a 3-pin fan connector. Zalman includes a special 3-pin to Molex adapter that features a total of four 3-pin female connectors; two on the 12V and two on the 5V. Plugging the fan into the 12V makes the VF700 run in normal mode with a fan speed of 2,650 RPM and a noise level of 28.5dB. Alternatively, plugging the fan into the 5V lead switches the VF700 to silent mode with a fan speed of 1,350rpm and noise level of 18.5dB. Naturally, in addition to the VF700, the adapter can power up to three other 3-pin devices.
Between the heatsink and fan is a mounting clip that has mounting holes for both NVIDIA and ATI video cards.
Eight blue aluminum RAM sinks are included with the VF700. Each crown shaped heatsink has a square base. |
