With CPU speeds climbing higher and higher; so too is the amount of heat they put out. This is reason that it is a golden age for after market CPU coolers. This is due to the idea that the bigger the heatsink, the more surface area there is to dissipate heat. The CNPS7700 uses a 120mm fan (compared to the CNPS7000's 92mm). To accommodate this, the cooler uses a very large heatsink with a diameter of 136mm!
